Greater Wenatchee Irrigation District, a great place to work. Operator requirements:
You must live within 20 minutes of the District bounderies. You may be responsible for meter reading and repair, checking and maintaining pumps, electric motors and Valves, You may be required to operate large equipment, back hoe, dumptruck, hoist truck or others.We operate year round. In the summer we deliver water to our customers, make repairs and meter readings as needed. We work a flex schedule so you have a 3 day weekend every other weekend, there is mandatory overtime every other weekend and evenings. In the winter we work 4 -10 hour days giving you 3 day week ends, GWID has 11 holidays, and offer great benefits. This job has a low turn over rate because of job quality. The work can be demanding but also very rewarding. For the self motivated worker there are a lot of opportunities to learn new skills. Most of the time you would be working on your own. We work on a variety of equipment in a variety of situations. There are opportunities to learn telemetry or scada systems, and work on electrical controls. The majority of our system is computer controlled. Because we are constantly upgrading our systems., computer oriented employees would be trained to work on our mapping and GIS system as well as scada systems.
